Welcome
to the month of November 2023: Our Month of Divine Abilities
“I Can do
all things through Christ which strengtheneth me.” Philippians 4:13
“It is God that girdeth me with
strength, and maketh my way perfect.
He maketh my feet like hinds' feet, and setteth me upon my high
places.
He teacheth my
hands to war, so that a bow of steel is broken by mine arms.” Ps.18:32-34
“Blessed
be the Lord my God which teacheth my hands to war and my fingers to fight”.
Ps.144:1
Beloved,
I welcome you to the Month of November 2023 which has graciously be tagged by
the Lord as our month of Divine Abilities. As is the culture with us, let us
take the words apart and define them so that we can come to a spiritual
understanding of this prophetic word for our benefit.
Divine
means that which is of God. Abilities on the other hand, is the plural of the
word ability which means possession of the means or skills to do something. It
also means talent, skill or proficiency in a particular area. The Cambridge
dictionary defines it as the physical or mental power or skill to do something.
Dictionary.com
defines ability as the power or capacity to do or act physically, mentally,
morally, legally, financially … etc. it also defines it as competence in an
activity or occupation because of one’s skill, training or other qualification.
I believe that the other qualification here is the one that only God can give.
Thus far,
divine has qualified the ability and given it a blessing that cannot be found
in this world. Our scripture texts above clarifies this with the prayer of King
David of ancient Israel where he praises God as the one that has given him the
ability in warfare. Thus he never lost any battle. He also makes it clear that
it is God that strengthens him and makes his way perfect so that his hands are
skillful in warfare and he could break a bow of steel with his bare hands. This
is a lucid example of divine ability in a person’s field of endeavor.
Another
example is found in the New Testament in Apostle Paul’s letter to the Church at
Philippi where he wrote that he could do all things through Christ which
strengthens him. Thus his ability to be the custodian of more than half of the
revelation in the New Testament was simply Divine.
This
month therefore, I believe God wants us to know that if we rest our faith on
the truth that it is through Him that we can become the best of all He has
created us to be, then we would really become the best of us; not in comparison
to another but to the purpose he has had in mind for us before the foundation
of the earth. No wonder Apostle Paul said in his letter to the Romans that it
is of Him and through him and to Him are all things. This truth can be found in
Rom.11:36.
In light
of the foregoing, we ought to understand that without him, we can do nothing.
See John 15:1-5 where the Lord was clearly teaching that our abilities would be
hinged on our remaining connected to Him through the Ministry of the Holy
Spirit. See John 16:7-13. Thus our boast in every kind of divine ability is in
the Lord God that gives us all things richly to enjoy [1Tim.6:17] through the
ministry of the Gift of the Holy Spirit also known as the promise of the
father. The ability to live and walk uprightly before God and with God all the
days of our lives since getting acquainted with the Father is through the
ministry of the Holy Spirit. See John 14:26 and 1John 2:27.
Following
from above therefore, this month, we shall be learning from the scriptures how
to activate and take advantage of our divine abilities in every area of our
lives since we can do all things through Christ that strengthens us. So we are
going to be looking at a theme I title: Activating
and Employing Our Divine Abilities for our Divine Advantage. Let us also
understand that as this year comes to a close, our divine advantages does not
end; this year only came to usher us into it and the God who made heaven and
earth that is not like the other gods that are mere idols will ensure our
divine advantage continues until we come face to face with the Father.
On this
note, I once again welcome us all into our Month of Divine Abilities; May the
strength to continue in the faith once delivered to the saints [Jude 1:3] continue
to be our portion in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ.
Meanwhile,
someone may be reading this that has not gotten acquainted with the Lord that
is the author of our Salvation: Jesus Christ; and wants to do so right away,
you can start immediately by saying the following prayer out loud in faith and
submitting to discipleship of Jesus Christ beginning with baptism into Jesus
Christ by water:
Heavenly
Father,
Have
mercy on me; a sinner. Today, I acknowledge my inability without your grace and
truth and humble myself at your feet to repent of my sins and sin nature
inherited from Adam. I renounce the fatherhood of Satan and renounce all his
unfruitful works of darkness. I embrace Jesus Christ as my Saviour and Lord and
surrender to be baptized into the Lord Jesus Christ and to put on Christ Jesus indeed
[Rm.13:14] so that I can walk with him for the remaining days of my life in the
name of the Lord Jesus Christ. Amen.
