Topic: Three Enemies of our Divine Healing and Health

Introduction: So far in this series, we have seen that it is God’s perfect will for us to not only be healed, but to live in health. In our text scripture for the month, we learn that God wishes above all things that we prosper and be in health even as our soul prospers. See 3Jn.1:2 and 1Pet.2:24.  We have also established that God is the sole healer of mankind and He is also the only one who has the power to cause us to live in health based on the extent to which we submit to his word to prosper our souls. 

In spite of all these truths there are some enemies that war against the perfect will of God in our health. I want to compress these enemies into three even though they are more. An examination of these three however will help to show us why many people do not attain to this desire of God for their total healing and health for them. 

Three Enemies of our Healing and Health: While there may be more, I want to address these three enemies of our total healing and health today as we wrap up our messages for this month of divine healing and health for us. The three enemies we shall be addressing today are sin; ignorance and fear. 

Sin: The source of sickness in the first place is sin. There was no sickness on earth until man sinned against God in Gen.3 and came under the influence of death. Because of sin, man became a child of the devil or a child of disobedience. In other words, he passed from life to death. As a child of the devil, he came under the curse of death which encapsulates sickness among other ills. In Deu.28:15-66 we see a comprehensive list of the curse for sin which includes sickness. It took Jesus Christ coming to die for us on Calvary’s Cross to redeem us from sickness among other curses of the Law. See Isa.53:1-5; Mt.8:17; 1Pet.2:24; Gen.2:16-17 and Gal.3:13-14.

After people are saved and still live in sin, they make themselves vulnerable to the attacks of sickness from the devil. A major sin most believers commit is the failure to rest. When this is disobeyed, they come under attack and therefore under the oppression of the devil because every sickness is an oppression of the devil [Acts 10:38]. In fact many sicknesses that people suffer from could have been averted by sufficient rest. See Ex.31:15-17; Mk.6:31 and Eccl.10:8.

Ignorance: The second enemy of our divine healing and health I want to look at is ignorance. So many people are ignorant of the following truths among others and are therefore not free from the plague of sickness and disease: 

1. People are ignorant of their source and as such they are not saved and are therefore still under the captivity of the devil. They are thereforesubject to sickness and disease – see Ps.82:5-7; Jn.3:16-19.

2. People who are saved and still battling with this unfortunate state are in that state because of ignorance of their right in the covenant of divine healing and health. Prov.13:17 and Jas.5:14-15.

3. In some other cases, some people who are aware of their right may be ignorant of some of the covenant demands that makes us get healed and also walk in divine health. For instance some believers even though they are saved and even serving God, are ignorant of their right to divine health and fruitfulness through service and therefore are waiting for God to  come and heal them instead of taking their healing and health by faith. Some are even ignorant of the truth that it is the perfect will of God to heal us and cause us to live in health.Ex.15:26; Deu.7:15.

4. some other people even though saved are ignorant of the truth that it is God’s will for them to be healed and walk in divine health and as such they hide under the falsehood that if it is the will of God they would be healed otherwise they would die in that state. See the will of God in the following texts: 3Jn.1:2; 1Pet.2:24 and Ex.23:25-26.

5. Refusal to use Medicare when their faith cannot handle their circumstance. Each of us has a measure of faith per time. For some, they have mountain moving faith while others have stone moving faith. Work with the level of faith you have per time. See Rm.12:3-6 and Mk.5:25-34. 

6. Ignorance of the need for proper diet, hygiene and exercise. See Ex.23:25-26; Rm.14:20-23; Deu.14:3 and 12:24-25.

To overcome ignorance, go for light that comes through intimacy with the Holy Spirit who would give you understanding of the mysteries of God and their applications. We learn in the word that the entrance of his word gives light and understanding to the simple. We also understand that when the light shines in the darkness including the darkness of infirmity, the darkness must give way. We can get light by asking it of God and /or searching it out from scripture through the help or the Holy Spirit. See Ps.119:130; Jn.1:1-5; Eph.1:17-21; Mt.7:7-8 and Prov.2:1-7.

Fear: Most people who fail to get healed failed in faith because of fear of death while they claim to be trusting in God. If you will not use Medicare, there is something you must use. This is why we looked at the great physician’s prescription last week. With the contents of that message we were able to see some of the options available to us for taking our healing and walking in divine health. 

Another reason for faith failure is the failure to walk in love because faith works by love. Therefore failure to walk in love is automatically going to result in faith failure. We saw the need to walk in love by getting rid of unforgiveness last week. 

Another kind of fear that keep people from getting healed even if they are smart enough to use Medicare when their faith do not measure up is the fear of the disease itself. This can be overcome when we see every sickness as an oppression of the devil and we get to understand that in the clinic of the Lord Jesus Christ, there are no hopeless cases because he terminates every terminal case and even raises four days old corpses from the dead. See 2Tim.1:7; Rm.8:14-15; 1Cor.13:1-3 and Gal.5:6.

It is on this note we shall be bringing this series to an end this month. There may be someone reading this message now who is yet to receive Jesus Christ as the Lord of their lives and therefore not able to know his or her source in experience. Please you can do so right away by saying the following prayer out loud in faith and you will be initiated into God’s family and be entitled to all the privileges of divine health we have talked about this month. If you want to do so, please say the following prayer out loud in faith and you will be born again:

Heavenly Father, 

Have mercy on me a sinner. Today, I believe that Jesus died for me and you raised Him from the dead for my Justification. I therefore declare that Jesus Christ is my Saviour and Lord and from today, I renounce the fatherhood of Satan and embrace Jesus Christ as my Saviour and Lord. Thank you for this father in Jesus’ name! Amen.
