Topic: The Faith of God for our Redemption pt.1 (Redeemed from death)

Introduction: As we saw last week, the faith of God is the only faith that deals with this great issue of death and its source and solution. The reason for this is that it all started in his garden and he also provided the solution before man was created. In Revelation 13:8; Jesus Christ is referred to as the Lamb that was slain before the foundation of the world. This is because He had the foreknowledge of all that was going to take place after he creates man and He made adequate preparation for it.

Why Redemption from Death? Before sin was introduced to man in the Garden of Eden, death was already a resident of the garden but was powerless over man as man was designed to live eternally. As long as man stayed connected to his maker through obedience, death had no power over him. All these while, the devil was still a homeless wanderer on earth and had access to the garden at this time. As soon as he knew about the commandment of God that man was not to eat of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil or he would face the consequence of death; he began to device ways to make man disobey knowing that, if man disobeyed God and ate it, he was going to be cut off from God the source of the supply of the life he had and it would be only a question of time from then before he would eventually die.) Thus the commandment activated sin and as soon as Satan was able to get man to sin, man died and came under his influence. See Gen.2:17; Rm.7:9 and Lk.4:5-7.

This was the origin of spiritual and physical death. Man did not have access to God any longer so he could not relate with God like he used to when God visited him in the cool of the day and conversed with him. This was spiritual death; he was cut off from his source. He no longer had access to light and life and was therefore groping in the darkness of this world confused and no longer in charge of the earth God gave him dominion over. He became a slave to sin and consequently to death eventually. He fell short of the glory of God and no longer had access to life. To make up for this, man created religion which can be defined as man’s idea of relating with God. Religion cannot save man as has since been proven over time. The faith of God is therefore the only faith that addresses man’s most important need which is to be reconciled to God. See 2Cor.5:17-21 and Eph.2:13-19.

Redeemed from death: When the Lord Jesus Christ walked the sands of time, He said concerning His mission that God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten son that whosoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life. This was in fulfilment of His promise in Gen.3:15 which was the means by which Jesus Christ was to obtain eternal life for us. This promise makes it clear that God has provided the solution to the sin question in man’s life and that the gate of life is now open to all and sundry.

What Jesus Christ achieved for us with His death on Calvary’s Cross:  

1.     He became the replacement for man like an effigy that made it possible for God to vent His wrath on sinful man identified in Christ on the Cross and in hell. The demand was a sinless man and none in heaven and on earth was found worthy except the Lord Jesus Christ. God vented his wrath over man’s sin on him instead of us and allowed him to go to hell to suffer instead of us so that if we believe in him; we identify with him through baptism and become partakers of his death, burial and resurrection. See Col.2:11-15 Rev.16:19; Rev.19:15 and Rev.5:3-7

2.     Man needed a sacrificial replacement because his sin nature made it impossible for him to pay of his penalty and be raised back to life. This is because without the shedding of blood, there could be no remission of sin. See Heb.9:22; Lev.17:11

3.     God desired to show mercy to man and was tired of the worthless sacrifices of man which had no power to give him back his life. Jesus Christ offered his body as the sacrifice that made it possible for God to achieve His desire to show mercy instead of demanding sacrifices from man. Heb.9:11-13; Ex.34:5-7 and 10:6-10.

4.     He granted man the access to eternal life. Thus man could now cultivate an intimate relationship with God and really become God’s best friend. See Jn.17:2-3

5.     The relationship between God and man that was severed by sin could now be put back together through the righteousness of God in Christ Jesus. See 2Cor.5:18-21; Col.1:20 and Rm.5:9.

How to activate this great gift of God: someone reading this may be thinking that if Jesus Christ did all these for us through the sacrifice He made on the Cross and His sufferings in hell; why are people still going to hell? Why does the faith of God not make it possible for all to be saved and enjoy eternal life?

1.     God is Holy meaning He is wholly; He is eternally the main person with integrity. He would never violate His word which includes that the soul that sins shall die [Gen.2:17; Ez.18:4]. He proved it in Adam, but His love made the sacrifice of Jesus possible to save us. To take advantage of what He did, we must repent to be able to receive eternal life. Repentance is the proof that we believe. Thus no matter how much God loves you, if you do not believe in what He has done for you, He cannot save you. See Mk.16:15-16.

2.     By God’s standard, redemption can only be activated by faith in the word of God that promises it. Joh.3:16-19; Rm.1:16.

3.     God’s way is that we are saved by grace through faith so that none of us can boast of our good deeds as the reason we are saved but trust in His grace and mercy. See Eph.2:8-10 and Heb.4:16.

4.     The first step to activating eternal life therefore is to declare your faith in the finished work of the Lord Jesus Christ for your salvation. Thus you have to first believe that Jesus Christ died for you on the Cross of Calvary and declare your faith in Him See Rm.10:8-11. If you want to do that right now, you can do so at once by saying the following prayer out loud in faith and you will receive eternal life at once:

Heavenly Father,

Have mercy on me a sinner. Today, I believe that Jesus died for me and you raised Him from the dead for my Justification. I therefore declare that Jesus Christ is my Saviour and Lord and from today, I renounce the fatherhood of Satan and embrace Jesus Christ as my Saviour and Lord. Thank you for this father in Jesus’ name! Amen.

Topic: Events from the Cross to the Resurrection morning

Introduction: Today has been marked by some nations of the earth as the day to celebrate what they call Easter. It is a celebration of worship to a goddess they call Esther from the old Roman Empire mythology. They believe she is responsible for fertility and therefore dedicate the time to worship her for their fertility. This to us however is the day we celebrate the resurrection of our Lord Jesus Christ from the dead having gone to hell to pay the full price for our sin and obtaining eternal redemption for us. Today, we shall be looking from the bible at the events from the cross to the resurrection morning and drawing from the word of God to proofs of how this entire process proves the fulfilment of the promise of God to save us and the step by step process the Lord took to actualize that promise. These prophesies are in Isa.53; Ps.22:1ff; Heb.10:6-10 etc. then the fulfillment was found in Mt.27-28; Gal.3:13-14; Col.2:14-15.

1.     At the cross: Let us first understand that what happened at the Cross is a direct fulfillment of prophecy which now speaks volumes over the years since its fulfillment. Therefore we are going to be looking at the prophecy and showing how it was fulfilled and what the purpose of its fulfilment was.

§  Jesus was spat upon: Ps.22 – This was proof of his being despised and rejected of men so that we would be accepted in the beloved. Eph.1:6

§  He was bruised: This was done for our iniquity so that we can be free from the curse resulting from inherited sin as God had promised to not remember our iniquity anymore. See Heb.8:12 and 10:17

§  His hands and feet were nailed/pierced to the Cross.

§  He was scourged thirty nine stripes with the Roman whip: This together with his pierced hands took care of our sicknesses and diseases. See Gal3:13-14. Also see Deu. 28 to determine what the curse of the law is and you can sum it up to these three: Poverty; sickness and death.

§  He was rejected and a murderer was chosen by the people instead: This takes care of all the injustice we were to suffer for what we are innocent of. Mk.15:6-15.

§  He is falsely accused of what he was innocent of but he did not fight back. See Mt.27:13-14 and Isa.42:1-4

2.     When he gave up the ghost at the Cross, he died physically: He died separated from the favorable presence of God. He was taken from the camp and separated like a leper out of the camp to bear the iniquity of us all. See 1Pet.3:18-19

§  His side was pieced by a Roman soldier and blood and water came gushing out of his side. Jn.19:28-35

§  He was taken down from the cross by a rich man who laid him in his own unused tomb. Jn.19:38

3.     At the grave: 

§  His soul was taken to hell – here, he drank the cup of God’s wrath to satisfy His justice. Rev.14:9-10 – this was the cup he prayed to pass over him subject to the will of God. Mt.26:39.

§  He was tortured in hell for three days and night

§  All the punishment for the sin of man from the foundation of the world until the end was laid on Him.

§  The depression of man was laid on him

§  The desolation of man was laid on him.

§  The regret and pain of man was laid on him.

§  The hopelessness of man was laid on him.

§  The chastisement of man’s sin was laid on him. In fact he was tortured beyond breaking point.

4.     At the resurrection morning:

§  God’s demand of justice for sin was fully met in the Lord Jesus Christ.

§  God put an end to His affliction in hell

§  God by the power of the Holy Spirit raised Him from the dead to die no more.

§  The devil came to bow to him handing him the keys of death and hell.

§  He is now the only one with the power to open and shut.

§  The keys of the kingdom of God on earth was delivered to him so that he alone has the power in heaven and earth to bind and to loose.

5.     He came out of hell and moved on from there through the earth to the throne room in heaven.

§  He took His blood to the holiest place in heaven and poured it out on God’s mercy seat to obtain eternal redemption for us.

§  God now sits in mercy over all who would believe him.

§  Jesus Christ thus became our high priest forever

§  He makes intercession for us daily.

§  As High priest, He takes the word we speak in line with God’s will and executes it. Heb.3:1

More could be said here as far as our faith in the resurrection is concerned but we shall draw the curtain here for want of time and space. Meanwhile if there is someone here today that is yet to make this Choice of the faith of God through Jesus Christ because of the Cross and you want to make that choice now, this is your opportunity to make it right away as you say the following prayer out loud in faith and God will birth you into his family:

Heavenly Father,

Have mercy on me a sinner. Today, I believe that Jesus died for me and you raised Him from the dead for my Justification. I therefore declare that Jesus Christ is my Saviour and Lord and from today, I renounce the fatherhood of Satan and embrace Jesus Christ as my Saviour and Lord. Welcome to the month of April 2018: Our Month of the faith of God

“… Have  faith of God….”   Mk.11:22 Literal translation of the Holy bible

All over the world, when man is confronted by his persuasions of God, the answer they would always give in response reveals what their faith preferences are. For example there are some people who hold on to their tribal traditional faith, some hold on to the faith of others who had influence over them such as their teachers or guardians, and the list goes on. A look at our text here however, discloses the source of our faith in the bible. In most translations of the bible, we are told in this text to have faith in God. The New Testament bible was actually written in Greek and Aramaic originally before it was translated to English. A close scrutiny of this text from the original translations show us that it is literally translated: “Have the faith of God”! In other words, what is known today as the Christian faith is the only faith that can be described as the faith of God.

Thus anyone who embraces the faith we preach is actually embracing the faith of God.  This explains why it is not like any other faith. As a matter of fact no other faith provides the solution to the greatest need of man which is the need to be forgiven of sin and be restored back to God than the bible faith which is also the faith of God. Until the sin problem is solved, man can never be free because the problem of man resulted from sin and to get rid of it, the sin question must be correctly answered which is why the Lord Jesus Christ came into this world in the first place. See the origin of man’s problem in Gen.2:16-17 and Gen.3.

After the fall of man in Genesis 3:15, God promised man that He would send a seed of the woman to bruise the head of the serpent meaning a child was going to be born by the woman without a man’s involvement who would be instrumental in destroying the serpent that lured the man to sin and set man free to be restored back to God. This prophecy was reiterated by prophet Isaiah in Isa.7:14 and fulfilled in Jesus Christ in the New Testament in Mathew, Mark and Luke. The entire purpose of his coming was to save us from sin and the means by which He was to do that was death on the Cross of Calvary and subsequent punishment in hell taking our place of punishment so that we can be eternally redeemed. Jesus Christ is the Lamb of God that was slain before the foundation of the earth to deliver us from sin. This is the entire faith of God we are invited to embrace. This is the solution to all of man’s needs. See Mt.1:18-23; Lk.1:67-75.

As much as God has gone all these length to save us from our sin, He can only save a repentant sinner. Therefore, the faith of God demands that when any sinner is invited to embrace Jesus Christ as Saviour and Lord for the remission of sin, they are expected to do so in order to activate their salvation otherwise they would not be saved and the end of such a person is eternal separation from God if they die unsaved.

Thus to be born again because you repent of your sin nature is the greatest experience a person can ever have. If we go further to grow in the grace of God by feeding on the word of God daily, we would mature to start being instrumental in God’s hands to save others also.

In light of the above, this month, God wants us to take our faith even more seriously than we have ever done and bring his life to many more people than we have ever done because the time of His return draws closer by the day. Therefore this month, we are going to be looking at some elementary principles of faith to help us take off and start to build up our faith to the point of being able to lay a great foundation of faith for ourselves and posterity. We shall therefore be looking at a theme I tag:

“Understanding the Faith of God”. Anyone reading this blog now that is not yet saved and wants to be can just take advantage of this great opportunity by saying the following prayer out loud in faith and you will be born again and begin to truly live:

Galatians 2:20-21 believer versus others

Topic: Galatians 2:20-21 believer versus others

Introduction: Last week, we began to examine why we are here in relation to the manifestation of the glory of God through our lives. We established that the glory of God is given to individuals in weights. We also saw that the weight of glory a person can bear has to do with how much spiritual capacity they have built. The proof of capacity building is seen in how much of the love of God we walk in per time. We learn from apostle John that God is love and anyone who loves him is shown in how much of His love they walk in. also, that mature love has the ability to eradicate any kind of fear because there is no fear in love. See 1Jn.4:7-8, 18-21.

Today therefore, we shall be making a contrast between two kinds of believers to show us when we are spiritual and when we are carnal. These are two options of way of life that would always be available to any believer as long as they are in this world. The choice we make regarding these two would show whether we are choosing life or death by our life styles. See Deu.30:19.

Be spiritual: The command to be spiritual is not optional for any child of God; it is a mandatory command that enables us to be able to walk with God in the strictest sense of the word. Apostle Paul defines what it means to be spiritual or to be in the spirit to us in Romans 8:5. From this text, we understand that to be spiritual means to be mindful of God’s things e.g. His word and His Spirit. Whereas to be carnal is to mind the things of the flesh. Fleshly things are things that are selfish more than godly. A fleshly person is therefore very selfish and always will put themselves first before any other. This is the definition of carnality when a believer in Christ still lives for himself or herself rather than live for God’s glory.

To enable us overcome this evil way, God sent Apostle Paul to teach us through His letter to the Church at Rome, Galatia etc. therefore, today we are going to be comparing both kinds of life style and receive another opportunity to the able to compare and contrast both kinds of life styles and decide which type we want to live out in our individual lives.

Comparing and contrasting Galatians 2:20-21 believers and others:

1.     The former are crucified with and live for Christ in all their ways. Whereas the latter refuse to be crucified and go on living for themselves. It is only a question of time before they would realize how vain their lives have been. A wise person will repent at this time and live better but a hypocrite will continue to live in deceit thinking they are fooling God without realizing that the devil has fooled them into deceiving themselves. It is at baptism we either submit to God to be crucified with Christ or refuse to be and embrace the flesh. See Rm.6:4 -14 and Col.2:12-15.

2.     The crucified in Christ live but not of themselves; they are submitted to Christ so that He would live His life through them. So they are not the ones making things happen in their lives even though they are responsible enough to cooperate with the Holy Spirit to allow the Lord live through them. Whereas the uncrucified live to themselves and are not open to correction; neither do they allow God to have His way in their lives even when they know that they need to allow Him in their lives. These are believers who are too selfish to allow the Lord to reign in and through them. The solution to this kind or challenge is to yield to the Holy Spirit and the word of God and submit to mind renewal. See Rom.12:1-2; Jas.1:21; 1Tim.4:13-16.

3.     The Gal.2:20-21 believers make the effort to walk in love consistently until they over, time become perfected in it. The other believers on the other hand, do not bother to take this responsibility because it is a seemingly unattainable one. The truth however is that the love of God never fails. To operate this love would demand humility and persistence from any believer because love is patient and never gives up. See 1Cor.13:4-8; Col.3:12-16 and Eph.5:1-2.

4.     The Gal.2:20-21 believer is spiritual in all his or her endeavors and as such can easily be taught by the Holy Spirit. They bear the fruit of the spirit and it shows. On the other hand, the other type of believers are carnal and as such cannot bear the fruit of the spirit and become vulnerable to fellowshipping with the unfruitful works of darkness and can therefore not reprove them because of the blindness carnality can create in the life of a believer until they repent and become truly dependent on the Lord. 1Cor.2:9-14; Gal.5:16-17; Jn.15:1-17 and Gal.5:22-23.

5.     The Gal.2:20-21 believer is very God conscious and therefore mindful of spiritual things whereas the other believer is worldly and their thoughts are filled with the world. 1Jn.2:15-17; Jas.4:1-12 and Rm.8:5.

6.     The Gal.2:20-21 believer is always protected no matter how crafty their enemies are and will therefore not be snared because their obedience to God protects them. The other believers on the other hand, are easily snared and would find it difficult to enjoy victory because they do not have the faith that works by love because faith indeed works by love.  Gal.5:6; 1Cor.13:13; Jas.2:14-20 and Ps.41:1-2.

More can be said here but we shall draw the curtains here today for want of time and space. By the grace of God we shall continue with this discourse next week by looking at the release of the glory of God and what we stand to benefit from it after touching on steps we can take to be positioned for the glory.

How the Glory comes

Topic: How the Glory comes

Introduction: Once again, I welcome you to the Month of March: Our Month of Glory. The question that constitutes our topic today is known as the question of purpose asking why we are here on earth. This is a necessary question to answer to enable us locate our specific place in God’s scheme of things now. We already saw from the word of God to us this month that Glory means the manifested presence of God. We also saw that this season, God wants to manifest Himself to the world through the Church in such a way that the sleeping world would be awakened to the loving God who made them. Also, the sleeping in the Church would be revived to operate the faith of God once again; to shine as the lights of the world so that the world can see her good works and glorify the father. See Mt.5:13-16; 1Pet.2:9 and 2Cor.3:8.

But for this reality of God to be manifested, we must be positioned to bear the weight of the glory of God. Today, we are going to be looking at some bible examples of how people began to position themselves to operate in the glory of God.

How the glory comes: For us to be able to understand this message, we have to know that there are two means by which the glory of God comes to earth again since after He departed in Eden due to man’s sin. Before we see that, let us understand that the manifested presence of God also known as the glory is when God the Father comes to be manifested among men. When He comes, His love comes with him to just bless His people or judge the sin in their lives and deals with them based on their response to His correction. See Heb.12:6-12 and Acts 3:19-21.

The first means by which the glory comes is by the sovereign will of God: Here God of His own free will decides to visit man and reveals His glory to man. Examples of these abound in the word of God. For example, we see God manifested in His glory in the ministry of Moses several times like when he appeared to them and caused them to hear His voice and to see His glorious presence. See Deu.5:26. In the life of Isaiah also, he gives an account of God’s glory appearing to him after the demise of King Uzziah in Isa.6:1-5. Truly just like Isaiah’s response, when you encounter the glory of God, the first thing you will recognize is your sinful ways that were hidden from you before and you will respond with instant repentance. If you ask me, I encountered the glory this year and it has not left me the same. This is why the bible tells us that as we behold him with open face [meaning in our transparency before him]; we are changed and transformed from glory to glory. See 2Cor.3:18. When we press in prayer before God, He changes our lives and we do not remain the same persons we were before we started.

The second means by which the glory comes is through asking in prayer: God has promised to answer any prayer we pray in accordance with His word. His word tells us that God wants to live with us as our God and we as His children. He also says that it is His good pleasure to give us the kingdom which is a place of His presence and glory. See Lk.12:32; 1Jn.5:14-15 and Jn.15:7.

A look at the word of God would disclose that from the time of the prophets in the Old Testament like Isaiah, Jeremiah and the Minor Prophets like Malachi, people were praying for the coming of the Messiah by the glory of God. Then we see the example of Simeon and Ana in Luke 2 who had been praying for the coming of the Messiah and they rejoiced to be privileged to see him. Also, in this time people have been praying for the glory about to be released on the earth now since the 1950s and believe me, the release of the glory of God this time is going to be like nothing the world has ever seen before.

In light of the above, this glory must be well prepared for if we are going to take part in it.

Why the glory now? The reason God is releasing the glory is to rake in the end time harvest preceding the return of the Lord. In the time of the Lord’s earthly ministry, He commanded us to pray for labourers to harvest the ripe fruit of men in the world. The release of God’s glory on us at this time will equip us for the work of the harvest of souls into the kingdom of God to God’s glory. The reason for the release of the glory is that God wants more children born into His family and He wants you to be instrumental in birthing them.

What is your place here? This is where we have been building this thought to. Why are you here in the Lord’s army? This should not scare you; you have a very crucial role to play at this time and that is to be in the team of men and women and children who would be instrumental in God’s hands to bring in the harvest of souls preceding the return of the Lord so that more and more people would escape the wrath of God and be saved and eternally grateful to God. It is not the will of God that any man should perish; His desire is that all should repent and come to the knowledge of the truth. See 1Tim.2:2-4 and Lk.19:10.

Your responsibility is to find your place and stay there: Dislocation is a very costly thing. When people are not correctly located, they enter into a season of fruitlessness. But it is God’s will that we not only bear fruit but that we should bear much fruit. This is why we should renounce any unfruitful works of darkness and embrace the leadership of the Holy Spirit. It is only when we are led by the Holy Spirit and the word that we can really fulfil our role in this season of the glory. See Jn.15:8; 16 and Ps.92:12-15.

Some examples of ancients who found their places:

1.     Abraham was called to become God’s custodian of the blessing of the world and he paid the price of faith to actualised it. God equipped him with the promise of the blessing and gave him a token of a son in old age. The promise of the son came to pass after 25 years of his believing. That for some people would be too much price to pay for the glory. But don’t worry, you will not be required to do more than you have capacity for. See Gen.12:1-4, Rm.4:17-21; Heb.11:8 and Gen.21:1.

2.     Jeremiah found his place with God’s call on him to become a prophet to the nations. See Jer.1:4-5.

3.     The first encounter of Saul who later became Paul in Acts of the Apostles with the Lord saw him asking the Lord what he would have him do and Ananias was sent to him to tell him what to do after a three days fast by Saul. See Acts 9:3-6.

4.     When Peter first encountered the Lord, the Lord called him to stop fishing and become a fisher of men for Him. In fact the Lord told him He would make him a fisher of men. Even after Peter denied him, when he was to be crucified, after he resurrected; he reaffirmed His call on him when He told Him to feed His lamb and sheep. See Mt.4:19; Mk.1:17; Jn.21:15-17.

For want of time and space, we shall stop here today and continue next week with how to locate and stay in our individual place to be able to receive and bear the weight of God’s glory. Meanwhile someone is reading this blog now who is yet to make a decision for the Lord Jesus Christ. You can do so right away by saying the following prayer out loud in faith and you will be born again:

Heavenly Father,

Have mercy on me a sinner. Today, I believe that Jesus died for me and you raised Him from the dead for my Justification. I therefore declare that Jesus Christ is my Saviour and Lord and from today, I renounce the fatherhood of Satan and embrace Jesus Christ as my Saviour and Lord. Thank you for this father in Jesus’ name! Amen.
