Welcome to the month of June 2020: Our Month of Signs and Wonders

Acts 14:3 Long time therefore abode they speaking boldly in the Lord, which gave testimony unto the word of his grace, and granted signs and wonders to be done by their hands.
Jn.4:48 Then said Jesus unto him, Except ye see signs and wonders, ye will not believe.
I welcome you family to the month of June 2020 which the Lord has graciously named to us to be our month of Signs and wonders. From our text scriptures above, it is evident that God uses Signs and Wonders first, to confirm that the word which we preach is actually the word of His grace. Secondly, to get people to believe in Him through the preaching of the word and signs accompanying it. In Mark 16: 17-18, Jesus said; these signs shall follow those who believe… and He went on to talk about casting out devils in His name, speaking with new tongues and laying hands on the sick and seeing them recover from their sicknesses. The reason for this is clarified by our text in Jn.4:48 where He said except people see signs and wonders, they would not believe.
Every believer in the Lord Jesus Christ is ordained to be able to work signs and wonders by the help of the Holy Spirit. The means by which this is actualized is the gifts of the Holy Spirit. In the book of 1Corinthians 12:1-11, Apostle Paul teaches about the gifts of the Holy Spirit. Here, He identifies nine gifts of the Holy Spirits which are the means by which He works signs and wonders in the world. These gifts in this text can be segmented into three types of three gifts each. They are the revelation gifts containing the gifts of the word of knowledge, the word of wisdom and the discerning of spirits. The next are the power gifts made up of the gifts of healings, the gift of the working of miracles and the gift of faith. The third are the utterance gifts made up of the gift of diverse kinds of tongues, the interpretation of tongues and Prophecy.
The challenge the Church has faced over time is that these gifts can be and have been counterfeited by the devil and his agents have used the counterfeit to deceive and lead many astray over the years. This explains why you have some people working signs and wonders without bearing the fruit of the Spirit. The genuine disciples of the Lord Jesus Christ are the ones to whom the gift of the Holy Spirit can be given and as they faithfully serve the interest of God and His Kingdom with it, God causes them to be able to work signs and wonders as He did with the early Church. See Jn.14:17, Acts 1:8 and Lk.24:49
The question then is; How can we know the genuine disciples from the fake considering the multitude of different Churches now in existence all claiming Jesus Christ. The Lord tells us that by their fruits you shall know them. In Matthew 7:15-23, we read:
Beware of false prophets, which come to you in sheep's clothing, but inwardly they are ravening wolves.
Ye shall know them by their fruits. Do men gather grapes of thorns, or figs of thistles?
Even so every good tree bringeth forth good fruit; but a corrupt tree bringeth forth evil fruit.
A good tree cannot bring forth evil fruit, neither can a corrupt tree bring forth good fruit.
Every tree that bringeth not forth good fruit is hewn down, and cast into the fire.
Wherefore by their fruits ye shall know them.
Not every one that saith unto me, Lord, Lord, shall enter into the kingdom of heaven; but he that doeth the will of my Father which is in heaven.
Many will say to me in that day, Lord, Lord, have we not prophesied in thy name? and in thy name have cast out devils? and in thy name done many wonderful works?
And then will I profess unto them, I never knew you: depart from me, ye that work iniquity.
This explains the confusion that trails many so called signs and wonders Churches with members and Church leaders who do not resemble Christ. The bible tells us that the real disciples of Jesus Christ bear the fruit of the Spirit as opposed to the works of the flesh. The works of the flesh are listed in Galatians 5:19-21 and the fruit of the Spirit is listed in Gal.5:22-23. Also, the Lord teaches us in Jn.15:1-16 the need and importance of bearing fruit to God so as to avoid being cut off. See also Gal.5:16-17 and Rm.8:5-8.
Thus while we are going around preaching and working signs and wonders by the gift of the Spirit this month, let us also attend to the salvation of our souls as we also ensure we live to bear the fruit of the Spirit.
In light of the word for the month, we shall be learning about How to bear the fruit of the Spirit while working signs and wonders. This is the real challenge of the Church in these end times.
Meanwhile, if you are yet to make the Lord Jesus Christ your Saviour and Lord, you can do so right away by saying the following prayer out loud in faith and you will commence your journey with the true messiah of your soul:
Heavenly Father,
Have mercy on me a sinner. Today, I believe that Jesus died for me and you raised Him from the dead for my Justification. I therefore declare that Jesus Christ is my Saviour and Lord and from today, I renounce the fatherhood of Satan and embrace Jesus Christ as my Saviour and Lord. Thank you for this father in Jesus’ name! Amen.
