MESSAGES FOR JANUARY
2016: OUR MONTH OF FREEDOM FROM FEAR
Theme: Understanding
Our Dominion over Fear
Message for Sunday the 30th of January,
2016
Topic: Overcoming
the spirit of Fear Pt.4 (High Praises of God - the fear buster) 2Tim.1:7; Rm.8:15 and Ps.149:7-9
Introduction: So far, we have seen that fear is an evil spirit. We
also saw that the one who has control over fear is the devil who is the most
fearful being in existence because of his sin and impending judgment from God.
He has successfully projected this fear into fallen man until the Lord Jesus
Christ came to redeem us from his bondage.
We began to look at how to destroy fear because fear
has actually been destroyed by the Lord Jesus Christ on our behalf. So what we
are actually looking at is how to activate and enforce the victory that Jesus
actualized for us through the Cross. One of the most important weapons that the
Lord left for us to actualize our victory over fear is the high praises of
God. I fondly call this God’s fear
buster. The word buster means a person or thing that breaks up or overpowers
something. It is also used to refer to an explosive charge used in blasting. For
our purpose here therefore, the high praises of God has the ability to blast
fear into irreparable pieces and destroy it utterly. Let us see how it works.
First, we have to understand that fear is an evil
spirit brought upon man by Satan through sin. As a result, it has a destiny of
being cast out by people of God. See Mark 16:17. This scripture tells us that
one of the signs that would follow those who believe in the Lord is that they
would cast out devils. We also understand that fear is a devil which must be
cast out. One of the means by which we cast out fear is engaging the high
praises of God. With this mystery, Jehoshaphat led Judah to destroy three nations
that came against Judah and Jerusalem without having to fight because those who scared them
before were turned against each other by the Lord until they helped to destroy
each other. See 2Chron.20:1-24.
Secondly, God resides in the praises of His covenant
people. In Ps.22:3 we are told that He resides in the praises of his people and
Ps.114:2 and 2Cor.6:16 calls His people his sanctuary and temple respectively.
God’s presence always carries His aura that does not permit fear to stay
around. Thus his presence is a place where His praise dwells and therefore, no
evil spirit including fear can hang around. This is why when we are in His
presence; the feeling of fear loses its hold on us. What we then enjoy is
liberty in the spirit that enables us to fully become who we were born to be.
See 2Cor.3:17.
Thirdly, the high praises of God in our mouth
supernaturally engraces us with a spiritual two edged sword meant to achieve
the following objectives:
·
Execute vengeance
upon the heathen and punishments upon the people.
·
To bind their
kings with chains and their nobles with fetters of iron [this refers to demons
and evil spirits empowering these people to oppress you with fear].
·
To implement
God’s purpose of setting his people free especially from fear because until
this is done, God’s promised favour to his people would keep looking like a
lies. This is why God had to punish pharaoh and all the gods of Egypt before
Israel could be set free from their long standing captivity.
Note that there are captivities in your life that have
stayed for so long to the point that they have built strong holds of fear in
your mind. Today, by the word of the Lord, you are going to enforce your
freedom from them as you engage the high praises of God.
Finally, this revelation which was given to Zechariah
the father of John the Baptist in Luke 1:74 [when he declared that God has
visited us to set us free from our enemies so that we can serve God without
fear] explains this. Until we are delivered from the hands of our enemies, we
cannot serve God without fear. Attempting to serve God with fear is an exercise
in futility because God does not coexist with fear.
It is therefore very important to God that He destroys
fear from our lives so that we can enjoy the fullness of His blessing. Fear
came with sin. Now that sin is destroyed, fear must also leave because its
source is gone from us. Hallelujah!!!
To this end, we shall all be singing and dancing and
lifting up high praises to God today being the final day of our fast for the
enforcing of God’s program for us this year. Everything that we could not
handle in prayer and fasting would be supernaturally handled by God as we
praise him today. A minimum of 30 minutes of the service time would therefore
be devoted to praising the Lord today for the perfecting of all that concerns
us. Ps.138:8
Meanwhile, like we have seen before, the first step to
overcoming fear is to become a new creation if you have not yet done so.
Receiving Jesus Christ as your Saviour and Lord is what grants you access into
God’s Kingdom. In this Kingdom, we are endued with the Holy Spirit to live for
and reign with Christ. Should you desire to do so right now, please say the
following prayer out loud in faith and you will be born again into God’s
family:
Heavenly Father,
Have mercy on me a sinner. Today, I believe that Jesus died
for me and you raised Him from the dead for my Justification. I therefore
declare that Jesus Christ is my Saviour and Lord and from today, I renounce the
fatherhood of Satan and embrace Jesus Christ as my Saviour and Lord. Thank you
for this father in Jesus’ name!
Amen.
