Welcome to the month of February 2020: Our Month of Divine Help

Fear thou not; for I am with thee: be not dismayed; for I am thy God: I will strengthen thee; yea, I will help thee; yea, I will uphold thee with the right hand of my righteousness. Isa.41:10
Beloved family, I welcome you to this second month of our year of divine appointment which the Lord has graciously named our Month of Divine help. The word divine means that which originates from God. Help means assistance. To make it possible for one to do something by offering them some services or assistance. Thus this month, God is going to make it possible for us to become and do all he wants us to become and do. We learn from the word in the book of John Chapter 1 verses 16 and 17 that whereas the law was given by Moses, grace and truth came by the Lord Jesus Christ.
In January we learnt that if any man is in Christ Jesus, he is a new creation. That old things are passed away and everything has become new. The truth is that in the Kingdom of God, once you are born of God, your old sinful nature has to be done away with and you are now expected to live a brand new life of righteousness, peace and joy in the Holy Spirit. This new life is the life that only the grace of God can make to happen for you. This is what Apostle Paul found when He said in 1Cor.15:10 that He is what he is by the grace of God. He said he has laboured more than others because of the grace of God that works mightily in him. Thus the help of God is given to us in the form of the grace and mercy of God.
In Hebrews 4:16, we learn that we can come boldly to the throne of grace and obtain mercy and to find grace to help in time of need. Thus the system that God has put in place in His Kingdom to make His help freely be given to us is his grace and mercy. Through Jesus Christ, we have free access to this grace and if we take advantage of it, we truly become all we were created to be. Our new creation status is actually brought to fulfilment when we rely on the help of God rather than trying to get things done in our own strength. As a matter of fact, the prophet said in Zechariah that Zerubbabel would level the mountain before him; not by power nor by might but by the Holy Spirit. Thus the agency of God responsible for granting us access to the mercy and grace of God is the Holy Spirit.
The apostles of the Lord Jesus Christ were assured that they would receive power (divine help) after the Holy Spirit has come upon them and they would become witnesses of the Lord Jesus Christ from their current location and spread out their influence all around the world. See Acts 1:8. Also, in Acts 8, we see that Philip; one of the first deacons in the early Church ran to Samaria following the persecution that scattered the early Church in Jerusalem, and preached the gospel there with the help of the Holy Spirit. The entire Samaria was influenced with the gospel to the point that the apostles in Jerusalem took note of them and sent some of them to minister the Holy Spirit to them for their divine empowerment.
The Holy Spirit has been here since the day of Pentecost when the Holy Spirit was first poured out on the early Church. He has also been available to as many as are thirsty for His help to fill them with His power. Remember that the Lord promised in John 7:37-39 that if any man thirsts let them come to him that whoever believes in Him as the Scripture says that out of his belly shall flow rivers of living waters (this refers to the Holy Spirit who the father has promised to give to believers in Christ).
In light of the foregoing, this month, our desire as a Church is to understand the system of Grace and Mercy which God has generously given to His Church to enable us become and do all we are born again to become and to do. We desire that kind of help which God gave to David when he was running away from Saul when certain of the Benjamites warriors came to join his camp and one of them by the Spirit of God declared the help of God being the source of the help of God that David was getting. You will find this account in 1Chron.12:16-18. This is the kind of help we are looking forward to for all our Church planting and growth in every of our Kingdom of God adventures this year and beyond. Thus this month, we shall be looking at a series I title: Understanding the Mercy and Grace of God.
It is my heart felt prayer that this month’s messages will cause us to hatch the understanding that would enable us give all it takes to walk in the newness of life in God’s kingdom. We would therefore be able to demonstrate the lifestyle of the Kingdom of God anywhere we are to the glory of God.
Meanwhile, someone may be reading this blog right now with a very strong desire for the help of God because of the circumstances you are having to endure and thinking could this kind of help be extended to me? My answer to you is that it could; but you will have to first take advantage of the new birth offer in John 1:12 to become a child of God through faith in the Lord Jesus Christ. If you say yes to this offer, you can say the following prayers out loud in faith and you will be on the road to becoming a partaker of divine nature:
Heavenly Father,
Have mercy on me a sinner. Today, I believe that Jesus died for me and you raised Him from the dead for my Justification. I therefore declare that Jesus Christ is my Saviour and Lord and from today, I renounce the fatherhood of Satan and embrace Jesus Christ as my Saviour and Lord. Thank you for this father in Jesus’ name! Amen.
