Welcome to the month of May 2020: Our Month of Fellowship

Acts 2:44-47: “And all that believed were together, and had all things common;
And sold their possessions and goods, and parted them to all men, as every man had need.
And they, continuing daily with one accord in the temple, and breaking bread from house to house, did eat their meat with gladness and singleness of heart,
Praising God, and having favour with all the people. And the Lord added to the church daily such as should be saved.
Blessed family, I welcome you to the Month of May which the Lord has graciously declared to us to be our Month of Fellowship. This word fellowship is defined as friendly association especially with people who share one’s interest. In many of his epistles to the Church, the Apostle Paul often parted with the greeting that the fellowship of the Holy Spirit be with the Church group to which He addressed his letters.
In the early Church, we see the example of a fellowship of believers in the Lord Jesus Christ as God intended it from the beginning. We are taught in our text scripture that the people had all things in common. They were very united and their motives for their kindness to each other was the love of God in their midst. Each person made his contribution towards the general good because of the love of God in their hearts [Rm.5:5]. They each had an intimate fellowship with the Holy Spirit which eventually translated into their care for the welfare of each member of the body.
Thus the first thing that made any fellowship meaningful was the kind of relationship each member had with God personally.
Therefore, this month of fellowship, I believe God wants us to awaken to Him with a greater intensity than ever so that we can relate with each other with more genuine motives than ever before. Please understand that the closer each of us get to God and relate with Him, the better we would relate with each other in our Church gatherings. The circumstances we have all found ourselves lately resulting in the lockdown of the nations of the world should be seen as our opportunity to fellowship with the Holy Spirit with greater intensity than ever.
As a matter of fact, this word was given to me by the Lord last year before we knew about Covid 19. Yet, it comes in handy at this time to show that God cannot be taken by surprise. We can thus take advantage of this period of lock down to intensify our individual personal walk with God and increase in our knowledge of Him. This is the opportunity for each of us to begin to ensure that we would turn out as vessels of honour meet for the master’s use. In 2Timothy 2:19-22, we learn that in a great house are many vessels; some to honour and some to dishonour. Also, that if a man purifies himself, he shall be a vessel of honour meet for the master’s use. This time of lockdown is an opportunity for each of us to pay the price of separation to God for Him to help us purify our lives and make us vessels of honour meet for His use. Then we can effectively fellowship with one another in such a way that we can together build up the House of God which we are into a holy temple meet for the master’s use.
In light of the foregoing, this month, we shall be looking at the theme: Cultivating friendship with the Holy Spirit. When we succeed in doing this, it would help us in our dealings with each other. Then over time, it would be evident to all observing us from outside that God actually sent the Lord Jesus Christ. See John 17:20-21; 1Jn.1:6-9 and 2Cor.13:14.
In addition to the foregoing, it is now evident that all who belong to the Church of God through genuine fellowship with the Holy Spirit are exempt from the fear that the thief has plagued the world with because God has not given us the Spirit of fear but of power, love and a sound mind. See 2Tim.1:7 thus while the world quakes with fear and trembling because of what the devil is doing with sickness, The Church of God is enjoying the rest that only He can give.
Someone reading this blog now may be desiring this kind of rest because they are not saved. Dear reader, you can have it but it begins by your saying the following prayer out loud in faith and you will become a member of the body of Christ and join the communion with the Holy Spirit:
Heavenly Father,
Have mercy on me a sinner. Today, I believe that Jesus died for me and you raised Him from the dead for my Justification. I therefore declare that Jesus Christ is my Saviour and Lord and from today, I renounce the fatherhood of Satan and embrace Jesus Christ as my Saviour and Lord. Thank you for this father in Jesus’ name! Amen.

Welcome to April: Our Month of Evangelism

Welcome to the month of April 2020: Our Month of Evangelism
Then Peter said unto them, Repent, and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins, and ye shall receive the gift of the Holy Ghost. Act 2:38
And he said unto them, Go ye into all the world, and preach the gospel to every creature.
He that believeth and is baptized shall be saved; but he that believeth not shall be damned.
And these signs shall follow them that believe; In my name shall they cast out devils; they shall speak with new tongues;
They shall take up serpents; and if they drink any deadly thing, it shall not hurt them; they shall lay hands on the sick, and they shall recover. Mk.16:15-18

Beloved family, I welcome you to the month of April 2020 which God has graciously named for us: Our month of evangelism. After the Lord Jesus Christ paid the ultimate price for our redemption on Calvary’s Cross, He died saying “It is finished”. He was laid to rest in the grave; but death was powerless to hold himdown so He arose from the dead on the third day for our redemption. And in our second text above, he appeared to His disciples after he arose from the dead and gave them this final instruction on how they were to run with His vision of colonizing the earth for God. He said to them in Matthew 28:18-19:
“… All power is given unto me in heaven and in earth. Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, Baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son and of the Holy GhostTeaching them to observe all things whatsoever I have commanded you: and, lo, I am with you alway, even unto the end of the world. Amen.”
These words and every word related to this is the foundation of evangelism. The oxford Advanced learners dictionary defines evangelism as the art of persuading people to accept your views and opinions. In our case, it is the art of persuading people to become believers in Jesus Christ to the extent of making them disciples of the Lord Jesus Christ as we are. From our text scriptures, it is evident that on His departure from time into eternity, the desire of the Lord for us is to make us His agents on earth communicating His truth to the entire world beginning from wherever we are unto the ends of the earth. [Acts 1:8]
Thus the vision of the Lord for us is of global spread of the gospel with eternal relevance. In other words, we are expected to spread the good news of our redemption around the world looking upward to God for our rewards. From this, it is clear that our motives for preaching the gospel must sync with God’s in order for us to receive a reward from Him. [Mt.6:1-4 and verse 16]. The list of what we are to do is teach others all He has taught His disciples with the clear desire to make them disciples of the Lord Jesus Christ also (not your own disciple). We are to baptize them in the name of the Godhead; Father, Son and Holy Ghost. In Acts 19:5-6, the bible puts it this way: that when they heard this, they were baptized in the name of the Lord Jesus and when Paul laid his hands on them, they were filled with the Holy Spirit and began to speak in other tongues and prophesied
In the above text, we are told that when Paul found certain disciples at Ephesus, they were ignorant of the gospel beyond the baptism of John. So he preached Christ to them and they believed and got Baptized in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ. Then they received the Holy Spirit impartation through the laying on of the hands of Apostle Paul. He went on and taught the people consistently until the entire Asia Minor heard the gospel in two years. Our business is to persuade people to receive the blessing of God through Jesus Christ but whether or not they receive is up to them. In the Old Testament, God told Moses to tell the Israelites to choose between life and death, blessing and cursing. In other words, what people do with the gospel we preach is up to their decision. See Deu.30:19-20
God anoints us and we preach and teach, people become persuaded and decide to follow the Lord Jesus Christ and we teach them until they grow in the faith to be able to teach other people also and the cycle continues until each of us get to the point of reward when we come face to face with the Lord either at our demise from time or when the Lord returns to the earth eventually.
As we embark on this awesome assignment of evangelism, let us understand that no matter what God has called us to do, at the end of it all, we will account for the souls assigned to us by God to Him. Not all of us are called to carry out the same task in God’s Kingdom but whatever we are called to do, the end is to transform men from inquirers to converts and continue until they become Disciples of Christ Jesus who can also make disciples of others for the Lord Jesus Christ. Thus this month, we shall be looking at the theme: Making Disciples for the Lord Jesus Christ as we await His soon return.
You may be reading this blog now and thinking; with the way things are on earth today, you have to follow the Lord Jesus Christ. To you I say congratulations. You can start the journey at once by saying the following prayer aloud in faith and you will become born again. Then get baptized by immersion in water and filled with the Holy Spirit. Then begin to learn the word that would take you into your place in destiny:
Heavenly Father,
Have mercy on me a sinner. Today, I believe that Jesus died for me and you raised Him from the dead for my Justification. I therefore declare that Jesus Christ is my Saviour and Lord and from today, I renounce the fatherhood of Satan and embrace Jesus Christ as my Saviour and Lord. Thank you for this father in Jesus’ name! Amen.

Welcome to the month of March 2020: Our Month of The Word of God

“…His eyes were as a flame of fire, and on his head were many crowns; and he had a name written, that no man knew, but he himself. And He was clothed in a vesture dipped in blood: and His name is called the word of God...” Rev. 19:11-16
Beloved family, I welcome you to this third month of our year of Divine  Appointment which the Lord has graciously named for us: our month of the Word of God. Every time we pick up a bible, we immediately want to call it the word of God. This is because the bible is as light shining in the darkness of this wicked world in which we live. Whereas it is not out of place to refer to the bible as a compilation of the word of God, we would be more accurate to call it a compilation of the true account of events that occurred in the past, present and prophecy of events yet to unfold on earth.
However, the word of God is more than the book; He is a person. There are some accounts in the bible which did not report what God said; they were the opinion of other people even though those words were actually spoken. For instance; in the book of Job, we are told by Job that the Lord gave and the Lord took away what he gave. Even though Job actually said those words, God did not take away; it was the thief; the devil who came to kill, steal and destroy that which God gave to Job. Thus not every opinion in the bible was God’s. [Job 1:13-22 and Jn.10:10]. Some of the things spoken in the bible were the opinions of others whose understanding did not match up to God’s and therefore were not the truth. Thus referring to the bible as the word of God in its entirety could be misleading. It contains the word of God but the word of God is also a person. He is referred to by many names including Emmanuel [Mt.1:23]; meaning God with us, the King of Kings and Lord of Lords [1Tim.6:15; Rev.17:14 and Rev.19:16]
In John 1:1, we learn that in the beginning was the Word and the Word was with God and the Word was God. In verse 14 of the same book and chapter, we learn that the Word became flesh. This is the true account of the incarnation of the Son of God who came to take on flesh so as to become the Son of man for the purpose of becoming sin for us so that we could be saved from Satan through His blood. See Col.1:14; Eph.1:7; Mt.17:9; Mt.20:28 and Mk.9:12.
Thus the Word of God is the same as the Son of man and the Son of God. [Mt.8:29 and Mt.16:16]. He is the one who gave His life for our redemption so that we could become one with Him in the spirit. This is why Apostle Paul taught that he that is joined to the Lord Jesus Christ, is one Spirit with him. See 1Cor.6:17. Through Baptism, we identify with Him and become one with Him in His death, burial and resurrection. Rm.6:4 and Col.2:12. The scripture teaches us that if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; old things are passed away and all things have become new. Thus becoming one with the word of God enables us to live the life that God has ordained for us to live and become who we were ordained to become. Thus this month, we shall be learning about who the word of God is and exercising our authority in Him. We shall see how to embrace and do the word of God so that we can enjoy the blessing that come with obedience to the word of God. Remember, only the doer of the word of God is blessed [Jas.1:22-25 and Mt.7:24-27]. It is my heart felt prayer that this month, God will release more grace on us to read, hear and do the word of God so that we can truly demonstrate spiritual fruitfulness in Jesus’ name [Jn.15:1-5 & vv.8, 16].
However, the first step we must take to live this way is the new birth. Thus anyone who has not taken this step should do so right away so as to qualify for this blessing of obedience. If you wish to do so, you can do it now by saying the following prayer out loud in faith and you will be born again:
Heavenly Father,
Have mercy on me a sinner. Today, I believe that Jesus died for me and you raised Him from the dead for my Justification. I therefore declare that Jesus Christ is my Saviour and Lord and from today, I renounce the fatherhood of Satan and embrace Jesus Christ as my Saviour and Lord. Thank you for this father in Jesus’ name! Amen.

Welcome to the month of February 2020: Our Month of Divine Help

Fear thou not; for I am with thee: be not dismayed; for I am thy God: I will strengthen thee; yea, I will help thee; yea, I will uphold thee with the right hand of my righteousness. Isa.41:10
Beloved family, I welcome you to this second month of our year of divine appointment which the Lord has graciously named our Month of Divine help. The word divine means that which originates from God. Help means assistance. To make it possible for one to do something by offering them some services or assistance. Thus this month, God is going to make it possible for us to become and do all he wants us to become and do. We learn from the word in the book of John Chapter 1 verses 16 and 17 that whereas the law was given by Moses, grace and truth came by the Lord Jesus Christ.
In January we learnt that if any man is in Christ Jesus, he is a new creation. That old things are passed away and everything has become new. The truth is that in the Kingdom of God, once you are born of God, your old sinful nature has to be done away with and you are now expected to live a brand new life of righteousness, peace and joy in the Holy Spirit. This new life is the life that only the grace of God can make to happen for you. This is what Apostle Paul found when He said in 1Cor.15:10 that He is what he is by the grace of God. He said he has laboured more than others because of the grace of God that works mightily in him. Thus the help of God is given to us in the form of the grace and mercy of God.
In Hebrews 4:16, we learn that we can come boldly to the throne of grace and obtain mercy and to find grace to help in time of need. Thus the system that God has put in place in His Kingdom to make His help freely be given to us is his grace and mercy. Through Jesus Christ, we have free access to this grace and if we take advantage of it, we truly become all we were created to be. Our new creation status is actually brought to fulfilment when we rely on the help of God rather than trying to get things done in our own strength. As a matter of fact, the prophet said in Zechariah that Zerubbabel would level the mountain before him; not by power nor by might but by the Holy Spirit. Thus the agency of God responsible for granting us access to the mercy and grace of God is the Holy Spirit.
The apostles of the Lord Jesus Christ were assured that they would receive power (divine help) after the Holy Spirit has come upon them and they would become witnesses of the Lord Jesus Christ from their current location and spread out their influence all around the world. See Acts 1:8. Also, in Acts 8, we see that Philip; one of the first deacons in the early Church ran to Samaria following the persecution that scattered the early Church in Jerusalem, and preached the gospel there with the help of the Holy Spirit. The entire Samaria was influenced with the gospel to the point that the apostles in Jerusalem took note of them and sent some of them to minister the Holy Spirit to them for their divine empowerment.
The Holy Spirit has been here since the day of Pentecost when the Holy Spirit was first poured out on the early Church. He has also been available to as many as are thirsty for His help to fill them with His power. Remember that the Lord promised in John 7:37-39 that if any man thirsts let them come to him that whoever believes in Him as the Scripture says that out of his belly shall flow rivers of living waters (this refers to the Holy Spirit who the father has promised to give to believers in Christ).
In light of the foregoing, this month, our desire as a Church is to understand the system of Grace and Mercy which God has generously given to His Church to enable us become and do all we are born again to become and to do. We desire that kind of help which God gave to David when he was running away from Saul when certain of the Benjamites warriors came to join his camp and one of them by the Spirit of God declared the help of God being the source of the help of God that David was getting. You will find this account in 1Chron.12:16-18. This is the kind of help we are looking forward to for all our Church planting and growth in every of our Kingdom of God adventures this year and beyond. Thus this month, we shall be looking at a series I title: Understanding the Mercy and Grace of God.
It is my heart felt prayer that this month’s messages will cause us to hatch the understanding that would enable us give all it takes to walk in the newness of life in God’s kingdom. We would therefore be able to demonstrate the lifestyle of the Kingdom of God anywhere we are to the glory of God.
Meanwhile, someone may be reading this blog right now with a very strong desire for the help of God because of the circumstances you are having to endure and thinking could this kind of help be extended to me? My answer to you is that it could; but you will have to first take advantage of the new birth offer in John 1:12 to become a child of God through faith in the Lord Jesus Christ. If you say yes to this offer, you can say the following prayers out loud in faith and you will be on the road to becoming a partaker of divine nature:
Heavenly Father,
Have mercy on me a sinner. Today, I believe that Jesus died for me and you raised Him from the dead for my Justification. I therefore declare that Jesus Christ is my Saviour and Lord and from today, I renounce the fatherhood of Satan and embrace Jesus Christ as my Saviour and Lord. Thank you for this father in Jesus’ name! Amen.
