“And the Lord visited
Sarah as he had said, and the Lord did unto Sarah as He had spoken. For Sarah conceived,
and bare Abraham a son in his old age, at the set time of which God had spoken
to him. Gen.21:1-2
And, behold I come
quickly; and my reward is with me, to give to every man according as his work
shall be. I am Alpha and Omega the beginning and the end, the first and the
last. Rev.22:12-13
In the year 2017, the word of the Lord found
expression in our life as a ministry as the Lord really made room for us and
caused us to be fruitful in the land. We have been so grateful for that to the
point that we have commenced and aspect of the ministry that would place a lot
of demands on us to deliver. The early morning praise was introduced and has
been running in our branches. A new church building project was also commenced
in one of our foreign mission stations. We saw the hand of God in many areas of
the ministry so much that the only thing we could do was to set up a structure
by which we can come to appreciate God on a more consistent basis. This
explains our early morning praise which has blessed us big time.
This word of the Lord was given to me when I began to
wonder what the prophetic theme for the year 2018 was going to be before the
end of 2017. The Lord just spoke to my heart on that faithful day that it was
going to be our year of divine visitation. As I pondered on this word, it
dawned on me that divine visitation is usually initiated by God and like any
other thing He does, the terms are as determined by Him. In our first text
scripture above, we see the story of Abraham and Sarah who had believed God for
twenty five years to become the parents of nations. At the time when they had
the last conversation about this promise, God had told them that within a year
from then, he was going to visit them and Sarah would have a son. This was
twenty four years later!!!
This was really interesting because Sarah had stopped
believing and Abraham had already resigned his fate to Ishmael being the child
of promise but God did not forget. His faithfulness spoke loud and clear here
when He made a distinction between the fulfilment of His promise to a man and
the attempt of man to help him carry out His word. Truth is that Ishmael was
the result of the faithlessness of Abraham and Sarah but the compassionate God
did not want them to seek Him in vain so He came to them to awaken their faith when
they had given up. In Genesis 17:15-21, Abraham requested that the blessing be
given to Ishmael. God told him that even though he would bless Ishmael, the
promise shall be inherited by Isaac a son to be borne to him by his wife Sarah
according to the time of life in a year’s time.
God was on schedule when the next year according to
the word of the Lord, Sarah gave birth to a son for Abraham in his old age
fulfilling a twenty five year old promise God had made to him within the space
of one year to prove according to the words of Solomon in 1Kings 8:15 that what
the mouth of the Lord has spoken, His hand will bring it to pass.
The year 2018 is a year when God will bring many
longstanding promises He has made to his people to pass. However, like the case
of Abraham, these promises are coming to pass only by the hand of God.
Therefore, anyone looking up to God for the fulfillment of His word to them
must position themselves to receive it through spirituality so that the Holy
Spirit can easily reach them to guide them into His purpose for them. This is
because the natural man cannot receive the things of the Spirit of God because
they are foolishness to him neither can he experience them because they are
spiritually discerned. This said, we need not be told that this year is one in
which we have to be very spiritual to be able to access all that God has for
us. This is why this year, we shall be engaging in a lot of spiritual
exercises; the first of which is our fast of the first month of the year. This
will help us enforce this prophecy and at the same time position us to be able
to live in such a way as to realize the blessings it offers us.
This year also, we shall commence our home cell
fellowships to encourage spiritual growth and godly fellowships at the cell
level to enable us reach more people more effectively with the light of the
glorious gospel of the Lord Jesus Christ.
Ultimately, the Lord revealed to me in one of our
early morning praise sessions when He just told me He was coming soon that He
was coming with rewards for those who have been faithful to Him based on what
heart He sees in them. When God visits, He comes with the two edged sword of
reward for the faithful and judgement for the wicked. When He returns, he is
coming as a judge to give to every man according to his works whether they are
good or bad.
We can position ourselves by good works from the heart
for His reward or strip ourselves of that place by evil works because He is a
righteous judge and would judge righteously. According to our second text, we
are taught that we should stay consistent in any way we have chosen to live;
whether righteously or unrighteously. The lord will surely visit us this year
and will bring His word to pass in our lives. In Ps.102:13 we are told that the
Lord will arise to have mercy on Zion because this is the set time to favour
her.
I believe this year is God’s set time to favour us;
therefore, this year we shall be taking delivery of all that God has assured us
of in the past. It is my heart felt prayer that all of us shall partake of the
blessing of this year in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ.
To someone reading this today, this may be strange
because you have never made Jesus Christ the Lord of your life. If you have
read to this point and are yet to be saved, it is because you want to be saved.
If that is your desire, please say the following prayer out loud in faith and
you shall be born again:
Heavenly Father,
Have mercy on me a sinner. Today, I believe that Jesus died for me and you
raised Him from the dead for my Justification. I therefore declare that Jesus
Christ is my Saviour and Lord and from today, I renounce the fatherhood of
Satan and embrace Jesus Christ as my Saviour and Lord. Thank you for this
father in Jesus’ name! Amen.
