How Divine Favour comes

Messages for January 2017: Our Month of Divine Favour
Message for Sunday the 15th of January 2017
Theme: Understanding How Divine Favour works
Topic:c
Introduction: last week we concluded the topic on how to recognize divine favour in our lives which we saw for two weeks running. From what we saw, divine favour is actually something to be much desired. For this reason, it behooves us to find out how it comes. This is what we shall be looking at today as God permits.
How Divine favour comes: We have earlier established that divine favour is not like any other type as it is only that which proceeds from God. This kind of favour is not what comes as a result of being charmed or being physically attractive as the bible makes us understand in Prov.31:30 that charm is deceptive and beauty is vain. Consequently, the kind of favour we are talking about transcends beauty and charm. How then does divine favour come? Divine favour can come to a person in the following ways:
1.     As a gift from God: In the story of Moses and God in the burning bush experience where God talked about favour with a man, He said he was going to give them favour with their captors to enable them to not go empty handed after four hundred years of servitude. See Ex.3:21 and 12:36.
2.     Favour is the heritage of the righteous: As the heritage of the righteous, favour is our birth right. In Ps.5:12 we are told that God blesses the righteous and encompasses them with favour as with a shield. There are two levels of righteousness namely the imputed one and the righteousness that is the result of living godly. Anyone who is born again is righteous as a gift from God. See 2Cor.5:21 on the other hand, people who do righteousness are said to be righteous. Living this way is safer because you are involved and can be intentional in pleasing God and doing His will or word. The advantage of living this way is that it positions you to enjoy the benefits of living in covenant with God which results in your getting blessed as God has promised in His word. See 1Jn.3:7, 10; Ps.1:1-3 and Jos.1:8.
3.     Obedience to God: When we are obedient to God, we enjoy his favour but if we are disobedient to Him, we incur his disfavor depending on the level of disobedience as viewed by God. As favoured as David was with God, his disobedience cost him peace in his house forever as well as reduce the ambit of his influence in time to come after his reign. See 2Sam.12:9-13. The conflict between Cain and Abel was also a result of the obedience of Abel and the disobedience of Cain. God tried to warn Cain so as to not allow him sin further but he would not listen. See Gen.4:1-16; Gen.26:2-6, 12-14 and Heb.11:4.
4.     Good understanding: To have good understanding is the same as living a godly life. Those who live godly procure divine favour. See Prov.13:15; Job 28:28 and Ps.111:10.
5.     Love for God: God longs for this from his star creation – man. Since the rebellion of Adam, man has gone his way over and over again and this gives God a lot of concern for man as man is really not alive without God. God is our source and staying connected to Him is the key to true living. When God finds a man who would truly love Him and stay connected to Him, God prizes that man highly. This is why men like Apostle Paul walked in such light that they walked in. David was acclaimed a man after God’s heart and it has earned him an eternal legacy. David was able to foretell things not revealed to many prophets who were his contemporaries. He was anointed a king, but because of his affection for God, he also operated the office of the priest and prophet. See 1Cor.2:9-16; Mt.22:36-38 and Jn.14:20-21.
6.     Acceptable Kingdom Service: In the Kingdom of God, not every service rendered is acceptable. If we render acceptable service to God, then one of the peps we would receive in return is divine favour. See Heb.12:28; Acts 20:24 and Ex.23:25-26.
7.     A lifestyle of Gratitude and Praise: This is something God finds very attractive. In Ps.33:1 we learn that praise looks good on the upright. In other word, praise makes the upright attractive. When God finds a person attractive, He is drawn to you and blesses the person and the magnet that tracts the blessing to the person is His favour. See also Ps.147:1. On the other hand, God hates murmuring and complaining. People like this weary God and he is put off from them. This is what prevented many who left Egypt for the Promised Land from entering in. see 1Cor.10:1-11.
We shall stop here today for want of time. We shall continue next week by God’s grace looking at the benefits of Divine favour. Meanwhile if you are reading this and are yet to make a decision for Christ, this is your opportunity so that you can become the righteousness of God in Christ and therefore entitled to divine favour. Should you desire to make this decision, you can do so right away by saying the following prayer out loud in faith and you will be born again and become a member of God’s family and therefore entitled to His favour:
Heavenly Father,
Have mercy on me a sinner. Today, I believe that Jesus died for me and you raised Him from the dead for my Justification. I therefore declare that Jesus Christ is my Saviour and Lord and from today, I renounce the fatherhood of Satan and embrace Jesus Christ as my Saviour and Lord. Thank you for this father in Jesus’ name! Amen.

Recognizing Divine Favour Pt.2

Messages for January 2017: Our Month of Divine Favour
Message for Sunday the 8th of January 2017
Theme: Understanding How Divine Favour works
Topic: Recognizing Divine Favour Pt.2
Introduction: last week we began to look at this topic and to point out that there are tell-tale signs in a person’s life that can show you that such a person is walking in the favour of God. We saw a few examples of some people in the bible that walked in the favour of God like Noah, Apostle Paul and Mary.
Today we are going to be looking at how to recognize the favour of God in our own lives. In other words, what are the evidences of divine favour in a person’s life?
Signs of Divine Favour:
1.     Access to Salvation: In this regard, the entire human race since the completion of the work of the Lord Jesus Christ on Calvary’s cross came into divine favor because of the Love of God for all of mankind. John puts this truth out clearly when He said in John 3:16 “For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten son that whosoever believeth in him, should not perish but have everlasting life.”  In this regard, every human being since Christ has Divine favour but they have to make a choice for it to actualize it. Note here that in the Garden of Eden in Gen.3; humans and the serpent sinned, but there is no provision for the salvation of the serpent.
2.     Makes the choice for Christ: The salvation of a person is by grace through faith. It is said to not be of ourselves but a gift from God. See Eph.2:8-10. So that we are saved today is because we were shown mercy by God who orchestrated the events that brought us to that point. We do not just choose to be saved to get saved; we are led of the Holy Spirit to make that choice. See John 16:7-13 and Rm1:16.
3.     Walks in the ways of God: This may seem strange to many but this is a major reason why God favoured and helped many to sustain the favour of God in the Bible. In the story of Noah we saw last week, we learnt that Noah found grace with God because God found him to live right in the midst of the violence on earth at the time. This was also the case of Lot in the midst of Sodom and Gomorrah when God destroyed the place for their sin. He found Lot a just man vexed with the evil he saw around him. In other word, Lot chose to walk in the ways of God just like Noah. See Gen.6:11-13; Gen.18:15-33 and 2Pet.2:4-7. In one of these accounts we see God speaking highly of Abraham as a man who will command his offspring to walk in his ways and therefore decided to reveal his plan to him. When God discloses his plans to a man, the man is highly favoured because it provides him with many opportunities. From here we see that God does not disclose his plans to everyone.
4.     A favoured person enjoys divine Guidance always: One person who enjoyed this was King David who never lost a battle. One of his secrets was continuous divine guidance. See 2Sam.5:18-25. Also the examples of the Lord and of Apostle Paul are noteworthy. See Jn.5:30 and Acts 16:6-12.
5.     A favoured person operates in the power to get wealth: People like this are never in want of ideas and divine opportunities that convert their ideas into economic values. A favoured person is exposed to people who will help them from where they are to where they ought to be at the right time. Thus they have ample opportunities to fulfill their destinies. Deu.8:18 and Acts 9. This was the experience of Apostle Paul when he came face to face with divine opportunity with the Lord that made him to become the wealthiest Apostle in the New Testament.
6.     A favoured person is able to build and leave legacies that transcend their time: This was God’s testimony of Abraham in Gen.18:15-18. The Lord Jesus Christ came and raised 12 men and did not leave the world the same. Are you a cultivator building legacies or a hunter killing what is being built? Which side you belong to tells me whether you are favoured or not.
I will draw the curtain on today’s message here. Meanwhile please understand that if you are saved, you have access to all these benefits depending on what you have done with your salvation. If you are saved and not seeing these benefits, the first place to check is your heart and not another person. We are each responsible for the outcome of our destinies.
On the other hand, if you have never taken advantage of the favour of God extended to the entire human race through the Lord Jesus Christ; should you desire to do so, you can do it right away by saying the following prayer out loud in faith and you will be favoured with the new birth which grants you access to all the mercies of God depending on what you do with it:
Heavenly Father,
Have mercy on me a sinner. Today, I believe that Jesus died for me and you raised Him from the dead for my Justification. I therefore declare that Jesus Christ is my Saviour and Lord and from today, I renounce the fatherhood of Satan and embrace Jesus Christ as my Saviour and Lord. Thank you for this father in Jesus’ name! Amen.

Recognizing Divine Favour Pt.1

Messages for January 2017: Our Month of Divine Favour
Message for Sunday the 1st of January 2017
Theme: Understanding How Divine Favour works
Topic: Recognizing Divine Favour Pt.1
Introduction: Every time patients go to see a Doctor, they complain of whatever abnormalities they observe in their bodies and based on what they say and the Doctor’s further investigations through tests conducted he can come up with a diagnosis. What we want to do today is to carry out scripture tests to know whether we are walking in divine favour or not. If we are, we would eventually be learning how we can maximize it. If we are not, we shall learn how to get into it and stay there through further studies.
What Divine Favour is:  This is a compound word that carries two meanings. First Divine and second is favour. Divine simply means that which originates from God or that which is of God.
Favour on the other hand means kind regard, friendly disposition, support, kindness, goodwill etc. Divine favour therefore means among other things: kind regard, friendly disposition, support, kindness, goodwill etc. from God towards a person. Bishop David Abioye of Winners Chapel in a message I listened to, defined favour as the magnet that attracts blessings to you. He cites the example of the children of Israel in Ex.3:21 and 12:36 where God gave them favour before they could be paid for four hundred years of servitude.
Bible example of people divinely favoured:
Noah: In Gen.6:1-7, we see an example of a man who was divinely excluded from the wrath of God because God favoured him. His name was Noah. God had said He would destroy the earth with flood but then we read in verse 7 that Noah found grace with God. The word translated grace here carries a more expanded meaning of divine favour. As a result of the favour Noah had with God, he was protected by God from the judgement God brought on the earth. So we see here that favour commands divine protection for its recipient.
Saul: He was chosen by God to become the first kind of Israel without any qualifications. Israel never had a king prior and he was from the smallest tribe in Israel whose number was grossly reduced because of their sin against God in the time of the Judges. See 1Sam.9:19-22; 10:1-7. In these texts of scriptures, we shall see the many things that happened to him the same day to prove that he was divinely favoured.
Mary: She was described by the Angel Gabriel as highly favoured. She was indeed not just favoured but highly favoured. The circumstances surrounding her conception of the Lord were mysterious and too preposterous for the natural man to believe yet God intervened and caused her fiancé to marry her in spite. See Matthew 1:18-21 and Lk.1:28-37.
Apostle Paul: He referred to himself as the least of the apostles and he did not meet the Lord naturally yet he became one of the greatest because of the grace of God. God caused him to take the entire Asia Minor for Christ in the space of two years and he left us a legacy of two third of the New Testament! See Acts 19:1-11; 9:1-10; 1Cor.15:9-10 and Eph.3:8.
More can be said here but for want of space and time, we shall stop here and continue next week to look at the evidences of divine favour in a person’s life. Meanwhile, all these characters we have examined had one thing in common; they were in covenant with God. Are you in covenant with God? For you to receive the favour of God and be able to keep it, you must belong to his family. To do so means you have to get born again and this is as simple as saying the following prayer out loud and in faith and you will be born again:
Heavenly Father,
Have mercy on me a sinner. Today, I believe that Jesus died for me and you raised Him from the dead for my Justification. I therefore declare that Jesus Christ is my Saviour and Lord and from today, I renounce the fatherhood of Satan and embrace Jesus Christ as my Saviour and Lord. Thank you for this father in Jesus’ name! Amen.

Welcome to the month of January 2017: Our Month of Divine Favour

Welcome to the month of January 2017: Our Month of Divine Favour
Gen.39:1-5; Ex.2:1-10; 3:21; 12:36; Ps.5:12; Mt.1:18-21; Lk.1:26-28; 1Cor.15:9-10
I want to use this great opportunity to wish you all a great year ahead no matter what news is out there in the world right now. The Lord said when we hear of wars and rumours of wars and men’s hearts failing them for the fear of what was going to befall the earth, that it is the time for us to look up for our salvation is nearer now than when we first began [See Lk.21:28]. Just like the Lord told us last year that we are divinely exempted from all evils, so is He saying now. The word of divine exemption from all evils was triggered last year but will continue for us for all time and eternity! Therefore, rejoice always.
God has graciously declared this month to be our month of Divine favour! What a glorious way to enter a new year!!! The beauty of these words cannot be overemphasized! The reason is simple, no matter how good you are at what you do; you may never be rewarded for it without the favour of God coming on you.
The word is called Divine favour because any other kind of favour is fake. It takes only God to actually favour a person for real. I have heard that people through witchcraft do what they call spiritual exchange to take the place of other people in destiny because through consultation with peeping spirits, they have discovered that the person has a great destiny ahead. Sadly, many of them come to the rude shock that they cannot do anything worthwhile with it and at the end of the day, such benefits taken through spiritual theft fetches them and their offspring the curse of God which is attached to all that the thief is and has. The truth is that even if they succeed for a while, they would eventually lose it because it did not come from the Lord. Note that except the Lord builds a house no one who claims they are building is actually building anything [Ps.127:1]. If it does not come from God, the favour is not favour but a curse in disguise. Eventually, the person from who such a divine gift is stolen could come into the light of God and dispel the darkness of theft and the result could mean devastating consequences for the thief!
As we come into this New Year and new month God is set to restore to everyone in the Kingdom Heirs Family who has experienced a loss of favour or has never known of the existence of this beautiful grace of God; that which is rightfully theirs. We are told in Ps.5:12 that God will bless the righteous and encompass him with favour as with a shield. To this end therefore, this month of January, we shall be looking at a theme I want to call: “UNDERSTANDING HOW DIVINE FAVOUR WORKS”
Many people suffer untold hardships in life because they are ignorant of this great grace of God and some who are aware of it are ignorant of how to appropriate and keep it. Please understand that no matter how talented you are, if God does not favour you, you will remain buried in obscurity and this could be really frustrating to the point of leading some people to commit suicide. The reason is that in everyman lies a quest for relevance and this is divinely orchestrated to help man seek God. Many have sought help where there is no help in a bid to try to get this great grace and the result is the evil exchange that has led to much pain and agony for many. I am glad to let you know that all that is not necessary for you. You can actually find your place in God and stay there and be really favoured. The truth is that when your God given purpose is revealed to you and you pursue it with the passion it deserves, you will enjoy the unhindered favour of God and your glory shall not be given to another.
Should you desire to walk in this grace of God, you can begin right away by doing first things first: make Jesus Christ the Saviour and Lord of your life if you have not already done so. Should you desire to embrace this challenge, you can do so right away by saying the following prayer our loud in faith and you shall be born again:
Heavenly Father,
Have mercy on me a sinner. Today, I believe that Jesus died for me and you raised Him from the dead for my Justification. I therefore declare that Jesus Christ is my Saviour and Lord and from today, I renounce the fatherhood of Satan and embrace Jesus Christ as my Saviour and Lord. Thank you for this father in Jesus’ name! Amen.

WELCOME TO THE YEAR 2017 OUR YEAR OF REHOBOTH!

WELCOME TO THE YEAR 2017 OUR YEAR OF REHOBOTH!
“… for now the lord hath made room for us and we shall be fruitful in the land” Gen.26:22
Towards the turn of the year, I began to wonder what the Lord would name 2017 to us. On my own, I cannot make up a word for the year. If I could, I may have run out of words. As I wondered about the awesome ability of God to always come up with something new, He spoke to my heart and said the year 2017 would be Rehoboth to us for now the Lord hath made room for us and we shall be fruitful in the Land.
I quickly checked where it was written in the bible and found out that it was a word that was spoken by the hardworking covenant father Isaac after he had out laboured his adversaries when they kept trying to frustrate his various moves at providing for his household in the course of his sojourn on the land promised to his progenitor, himself and his descendants.
A preview of the year 2016 would disclose that prophetically, the Lord has been helping us to actualize the establishments he gave us in the preceding year by causing us to build more physical structures to enable us have proper places of worship and residence. In fact, in 2016, He promised us that we would be divinely exempted from all evils. A lot of evils were unleashed in 2016 on the world around us but He graciously exempted us in the Kingdom Heirs family from all of them. We are still in awe of all He has done and now He has brought us this great promise of fruitfulness combined with His establishments.
In the story of Isaac from where we draw this truth of the mind of God for us for the year 2017, we read in Genesis 26:16-22 thus:
And Abimelech said unto Isaac, Go from us; for thou art much mightier than we.
And Isaac departed thence, and pitched his tent in the valley of Gerar, and dwelt there.
And Isaac digged again the wells of water, which they had digged in the days of Abraham his  father; for the Philistines had stopped them after the death of Abraham: and he called their names after the names by which his father had called them.
And Isaac's servants digged in the valley, and found there a well of springing water.
And the herdmen of Gerar did strive with Isaac's herdmen, saying, The water is ours: and he called the name of the well Esek; because they strove with him.
And they digged another well, and strove for that also: and he called the name of it Sitnah.
And he removed from thence, and digged another well; and for that they strove not: and he called the name of it Rehoboth; and he said, For now the LORD hath made room for us, and we shall be fruitful in the land.
In this story, we see that Isaac became the envy of his neighbours because of the blessing of the Lord on his life due to the covenant God cut with His father Abraham which he inherited. They demonstrated their envy in their bid to frustrate all the efforts they made through their good works. The first well they dug was forcefully taken from them and the peaceful Isaac moved on from them and dug another well. They enviously took the other one also. He left them again and dug the third one and this time, they did not strive for it and in his relief, he declared that now the Lord had made room for him and his house and they shall be fruitful in the land.
As I write, I had to pause to attend to some ministry demands. We just by the grace of God planted a new branch of our Church in another area of the same local government area here in Lagos state Nigeria four months after this branch where I am now was planted. At the beginning of this month, we experienced the devil’s envy and a fight that ensued between the community and the family that let the property to us resulted in their planting a charm in the property which by their law forbade the use of the property until the community removed the charm. Our resident pastor in that area knew that he could not come to tell me any story about unaccomplished work. He just removed the charm and continued work.
His action sparked the infuriation of the community leaders and they went and planted another one on the road leading to the property. At this time, I was already informed and the elders wanted to meet with me. I took my time because at this time I was in the middle of our annual December gratitude and praise time which we fixed for 4 to 6 am. That meant no sleep for some of our Church leaders and I. I sent a missionary colleague to go and see them on our behalf and he came back with a report that we were fined a certain amount of money. I immediately told him I would pay nothing because we did not owe them anything. I decided there and then that if they insisted, I would leave the place for them and tell them the owner of the place (God) would come for his investment in his own way.
Thankfully, God went ahead of us and gave us favour with the community leader who did not also see any reason for us to be fined and our place was restored to us. In fact they tried to make us give for their community day but we declined letting them know that what we brought to their community was worth much more than all the money they could ever ask for. As I write now, I know that God just used this experience to give us a sample of what he has in store for us in the year 2017. Much room and fruitfulness!
In fact looking at the word of this year, it is clear that God is calling us to fulfill the purpose for which we were created in the first place. A look at God’s purpose for making man in Genesis 1:26-28 shows us that we were destined to be fruitful, multiply, replenish the earth, subdue it and have dominion over it. This was God’s original intention but man’s sin in Genesis 3 truncated this introducing bareness and unfruitfulness.  But the good news followed after some thousands of years when Jesus said on the Cross in John 19:30 “… it is finished! By this verdict of the Lord, we can fulfill his intention expressed in John 15:8 thus: “Herein is my father glorified that ye bear much fruit so shall ye be my disciples…
In summation here, I must let you know if you do not already know that until you fulfill the purpose for which you were born, you have not glorified God. In John 17:4, Jesus said these words in prayer to the Father: “I have glorified thee on the earth: I have finished the work which thou gavest me to do.” It is therefore evident here that until you find your purpose for living and finished it, you have not really glorified God. This will make more meaning to you when you look at the book of Isaiah 43:7 where God said by the prophet that He actually created and formed us for His glory!
Sadly, many are walking the sands of time living meaningless lives because they are not even aware they have a purpose for living not to talk of fulfilling that purpose. For anyone in this category, I have good news for you. You can discover, pursue and eventually fulfill your purpose. Understand that you are only as relevant to God to the extent you are willing to fulfill your God given purpose. Jesus Christ by his death, burial and resurrection has made it possible for you to know and fulfill your purpose. Your access point however is that you must be born again. You must belong to God’s family to be able to do this because sin previously cut us off from the glory of God. If you desire to be restored to that glory now, you can do so right away by saying the following prayer out loud in faith and you will commence the journey to discover and actualize your God given purpose:
Heavenly Father,
Have mercy on me a sinner. Today, I believe that Jesus died for me and you raised Him from the dead for my Justification. I therefore declare that Jesus Christ is my Saviour and Lord and from today, I renounce the fatherhood of Satan and embrace Jesus Christ as my Saviour and Lord. Thank you for this father in Jesus’ name! Amen.

Appreciating God’s goodness this year as a whole

Messages for December 2016: Our Month of Gratitude and Praise
2Chron.20:1-24; Ps.67:5-7; 149; 150; Luke 17; 12-19; Acts 16:25
Message for Saturday the 31st of Dec. 2016 Cross over into the New Year Service
Theme: Understanding the power in Appreciating the Lord
Topic: Appreciating God’s goodness this year as a whole
Introduction: As this year comes to an end, a scripture that would not leave me is Ps.65:11 which tells us that the Lord crowns the year with His goodness! What a joy to know the Lord and be given the privilege of walking in His ways. At the close of last year, the Lord graciously announced to us that this year shall be our year of divine exemption from all evil. He told me then that the circumstances in the world would get worse for the lost but for us and especially for the Kingdom Heirs family, it shall be a year of DIVINE EXEMPTION FROM ALL EVILS! He made an analogy with the story of the children of Israel in Goshen when God decided to put a difference between Israel and the Egyptians and said when the world would be crying for hunger, we shall be feeding the hungry. The Lord brought all of these to pass for us as a Church family and as individuals.
FULFILLMENT OF PROPHECY: As I reflect back on how this year has gone, I must admit that I have never seen God’s action this way before. I must say like Joshua and Solomon respectively (These men lived in different centuries):
“… and ye know in all your hearts and in all your souls, that not one thing hath failed of all the good things which the LORD your God spake concerning you; all are come to pass unto you, and not one thing hath failed thereof.” Jos.23:14

“Blessed be the LORD, that hath given rest unto his people Israel, according to all that he promised: there hath not failed one word of all his good promise, which he promised by the hand of Moses his servant.” Solomon in 1Kings 8:56

For us as a people, God did much more than He said. He fulfilled His word to the letter. He enabled us to plant a Church in Nigeria and build it on our own property. Service in the Church started on the twelfth of June this year and today, the baby branch has graduated leaders from our bible school through our Nehemiah project – a 52 days bible school. Many of the grandaunts have found their voice. One of them has gone on to plant a branch of our Church in another area of Badagry.
We have experienced various testimonies to the good hand of the Lord upon our lives this year. We have seen God healing the sick and raising saviours from Zion who are arising to take responsibility for the harvest the Lord spoke to us about.
More can be said concerning the Church in Ghana but I will leave that to the Senior Pastor of the Ghana Churches.
In republic of Benin, through our seminars to leaders in that country, we saw live transformed and testimonies of healings and divine exemptions.

WHAT NOW? As this year winds to a close, the Lord has graciously spoken to us again concerning next year. He has declared next year to be REHOBOTH unto us; for now the Lord hath made room for us and we shall be fruitful in the land. This is in fulfilment of His word to us to receive some portion of the harvest for this end times.
This is therefore a great way to finish the year as we engage gratitude for all the Lord has done for us and been to us. It is indeed going to be a night of celebration for us as we celebrate the goodness of the Lord into the New Year.
For anyone here now who is still unsaved, you can express your appreciation of the goodness of the Lord today by receiving the atoning sacrifice of the Lord Jesus Christ and therefore make Him your Saviour and Lord. If you want to do so right away, please say the following prayer out loud in faith and you will be born again and commence this glorious journey with the Lord:

Heavenly Father,
Have mercy on me a sinner. Today, I believe that Jesus died for me and you raised Him from the dead for my Justification. I therefore declare that Jesus Christ is my Saviour and Lord and from today, I renounce the fatherhood of Satan and embrace Jesus Christ as my Saviour and Lord. Thank you for this father in Jesus’ name! Amen.

Request versus promote

Messages for December 2016: Our Month of Gratitude and Praise
Ps.92:1-2; Philippians 4:6-7; Ps.100:4; Lk.17:12-19; 1Thess.5:18 & Heb.10:35-36
Message for Sunday the 18th of December 2016
Theme: Understanding the power in Appreciating the Lord
Topic:  Request versus promote

Introduction: By this, I mean to make request to God versus to promote God. To promote is to appreciate God for what he has done and for who He is. This means gratitude and praise. Now we want to put them in what is like a boxing ring for them to wrestle with the word of God and see who wins.

1. You ask in request whereas you give to promote. Mk.7:7-8, in 2Chron.20 when Judah prayed, God sent them a message instructing them to praise Him for their victory. When they did, God took over the battle and slew all their adversaries. All the needed to do was cart away the spoils of victory.

2. Angels are sent on errands in respect of request whereas God would personally come to receive the praise when He is promoted. When angels are sent, they could possibly be delayed. When God takes over, no one can stand on His way. See Dan.10:1-14 and Acts 16:25.

3. Requests take longer to attend to whereas promotions are instantly attended to. In our Daniel example above we saw that it took 21 days for an angel to deliver an errand after involving the archangel Michael - the Prince of the warring Angels. On the other hand, when Judah by divine direction lifted praise to God in 2Chron.20:13-25, God fought for them like He promised if they praised Him. They obeyed and praised Him and saw the glory of God.

4. Requests require that you engage a lot of skill whereas promos only demand an appreciative heart. There are different ways to pray different kinds of prayer especially when praying in your understanding. This is why Apostle Paul enjoined the Church at Ephesus to pray all manner of prayers in the spirit Eph.6:18. On the other hand you only need the right attitude to praise God; your ability to remember what he has done and who He has been to you

5. Requests come to take whereas promos come to give. When we pray, we are asking God to do something for us. On the other hand when we praise, we are doing something for God. In Jn.11:41-42 when Jesus was to perform this very most important feat of raising Lazarus from the dead, he engaged the instrument of appreciating God. Also, when He wanted to perform the miracle of
Multiplying much food from little, He engaged the tool of appreciating God. see John 6:1-13.

6. Promos solve problems that prayer cannot solve. Paul and Silas prayed, no solution and they sang praises and their problem was solved. This is a strong case for midnight praise. Acts 16:25

As we approach the end of this great year of divine exemption from all evils. I believe this is a time we must express the most profound appreciation for the Lord for all the good things He has done. Also, we are made to understand that the Lord crowns the year with His goodness. In other words, the goodness of the Lord may be towards someone reading this message who is yet to make a decision for Christ and the Lord is beckoning on you to make you all he wants you to be. If you would take His offer, please say the following prayer out loud in faith and you shall be saved:

Heavenly Father,
Have mercy on me a sinner. Today, I believe that Jesus died for me and you raised Him from the dead for my Justification. I therefore declare that Jesus Christ is my Saviour and Lord and from today, I renounce the fatherhood of Satan and embrace Jesus Christ as my Saviour and Lord. Thank you for this father in Jesus’ name! Amen.
