Welcome to the month of August 2020: Our Month of New Beginning

Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new. 2Cor.5:17

Beloved family, I welcome you to this new month which the Lord has graciously called our month of New Beginning. I want to believe that last month being the seventh month showed the completion of a phase in this year because seven is the number of perfection. This new beginning will take us to greater heights in the scheme of God.

While waiting on the Lord last month, He told me that beginning from this month, He wants His Church to begin to rise and shine because He has made us the light of the world. To this end, we should go back to the beginning of our new status as new creations and see to what extent our lives are reflecting His glory and make all necessary adjustment with the help of the Holy Spirit.

The first time we really heard the gospel, we believed in the Lord Jesus Christ and got saved with the help of the Holy Spirit. At salvation, as our text scripture reveals, we became new creatures. Old things passed away from our lives and all things became new. The old man which ruled over our old life called the flesh was slain at the cross through baptism into Jesus Christ. A new person was born within us which after God is created in righteousness and true holiness. [Eph.4:24]. According to 1John 3:9, this new man cannot sin because the seed of God is in him.  Every time we allow this new man to lead us, we do not sin also but if we fall into the temptation of the flesh which is the old man we do sin but if we confess our sins, He is faithful and just to forgive us and cleanse us from all unrighteousness. See 1Jn.1:6-9 but the baby must grow up which is why the Lord is calling us at this time to arise from the lifestyle of rising and falling and grow in the grace of God in order to truly partake of divine nature. 2Pet.1:4

The bible says that the heir that remains a child is not better than a slave even though he is beneficiary of divine privileges. See Gal.4:1-7

Thus from this month of new beginnings, we are expected to examine ourselves to ensure we are still in the faith and resolve to put away all forms of carnality and walk in the spirit because if we are in the spirit, the bible tells us to also walk in the spirit. See 2Cor.13:5; Romans 8:9 and Gal.5:25.

This year has caused so many to become redundant in their faith because of the fact that they are used to being supervised to serve the Lord. Their services of God has been nothing more than religious exercises. I believe God wants the best for us. This is why He is calling His body to wake up and live out His life for the world to see, follow our example and glorify Him. God wants us to approach Him individually to receive our marching orders directly from Him.  When we do this, we can start pursuing His purpose for our individual lives. This will result in good works motivated by a genuine desire to please Him through obedience.

God’s desire is that we would live out the culture of His Kingdom here on earth for the world to see and emulate us. We are expected to preach the gospel more by how we live our lives than by what we say.

Through eating of the fruit of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil, man became a mixture of false light and darkness. If only he had chosen and eaten the tree of life instead, I believe things would have been different. His disobedience brought sin which terminates in death. This explains the multitudes of deaths that the world has recorded recently. Everyone that embraces God’s new beginning and is willing to run the race of this new life till the end would eventually partake of divine nature and escape the corruption that is in the world through lust. [2Pet.1:3-4]

Another good news is that we can through the Spirit mortify the deeds of the flesh. Really, the only solution to the sin crises is to submit the flesh to the Lord for it to be mortified. This is why Apostle Paul in Gal.2:20 declares that he is crucified with Christ but lives yet not him but Christ lives in him and that He lives by the faith of Jesus Christ. This can also become your testimony today if you are willing to give up yourself for Christ to live His life through you. Therefore, this month we shall be learning from Romans 8:13 and other scriptures: How to Mortify the deeds of the body through the Spirit.  For anyone that is yet to be born again, this message would not make meaning to you until you sincerely come to the Cross of Jesus Christ in true repentance. If you are that person and you want to do so, you can start right away by saying the following prayer out loud in faith and you will become born again and enlisted in the Lamb’s book of life:

Heavenly Father,

Have mercy on me a sinner. Today, I believe that Jesus died for me and you raised Him from the dead for my Justification. I therefore declare that Jesus Christ is my Saviour and Lord and from today, I renounce the fatherhood of Satan and embrace Jesus Christ as my Saviour and Lord. Thank you for this father in Jesus’ name! Amen.
